Solomon Islands: Tsunami hits Solomons after 8.1 quake, three dead
Up to eight people are reportedly dead after a severe earthquake with a magnitude of 8.1 hit the Solomon Islands at 8.39am this morning.
The tsunami that followed damaged dozens of houses in the small township of Gizo, located on New Georgia Islands.
The earthquake is unlikely to have caused a tsunami that will pose a tsunami threat to New Zealand.

Iran: Two sailors 'confess' on Iranian TV
Iranian television today showed pictures of two British sailors held, standing separately in front of a large map of the Gulf, saying they were captured after entering Iranian waters.
One of them said: "...Yes, I'd like to say to the Iranian people, I can understand why you were so angry about our intrusion into your waters ... ".
Britain had earlier said it was in direct communication with Iran over the release of its sailors.
