China repression worsens ahead of Olympic Games - report
The human rights situation and repression in China continue to worsen ahead of next year's Beijing Olympics, and the government has not yet fulfilled its media freedom pledge, Amnesty International said.
Forced evictions to make way for Olympic projects and the detention and harassment of people who have protested the evictions is a particular worry, and one the International Olympic Committee (IOC) should raise with the government, the group said.

Woman wins damages after losing leg in Sydney train fall
Australia's Supreme Court halves the damages awarded to an intellectually handicapped hairdresser who lost part of her leg after trying to jump onto a moving train.
Leigh Ann Russell had successfully sued the Rail Infrastructure Corporation (RIC) for negligence because it failed to prevent access to the rail line.
But the Supreme Court found Ms Russell had contributed to her own injury.

Four dead, two wounded in Missouri shootings
Three people were shot to death, including the assailant, and at least two were wounded in a shooting spree at a Kansas City shopping mall.
Police were investigating whether an earlier homicide at a house 10km away involved the shopping mall gunman, who was killed by an officer.
Local television reported late on Sunday that the first victim was a 67-year-old woman found dead in her kitchen. The reports quoted family members as saying a male neighbour had been harassing her.

Prince Harry's security boosted ahead of Iraq tour
British Army special forces have been sent to Iraq to beef up security for Prince Harry ahead of his tour of duty.
An extra detachment of special forces has arrived in southern Iraq to monitor militia groups and reinforce the Prince's protection as fears grow that insurgents will target the third in line to the throne.
Militia groups claim to know when his regiment, the Blues and Royals, will arrive.
