US: Bush poised to veto Iraq pull-out bill
President George Bush is poised to veto a bill that would require the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq by next spring.
"The President is the commander-in-chief. He is a man of principle. He is not going to put the troops in the position of having a surrender date ...," spokeswoman for the White House said.
The Senate voted 51-46 to pass a funding bill that came with an attachment demanding the start of a troop withdrawal in October.

A Taleban video of a 12-year-old boy beheading a man accused of spying has angered many Afghans.
It's very wrong for the Taleban to use a small boy to behead a man," religious teacher said.
"The Taleban do not follow the laws of Islam. They are taking advice from foreigners," he added.
