A huge fish, initially thought to be a barracuda, jumped out of the water and hit a woman kayaker in the chest in the Florida Keys, causing injuries which required her to be taken by helicopter to hospital.
The 45-year-old woman suffered a suspected punctured lung and broken ribs during the freak attack, which happened in shallow water. Barracudas are swift predators with razor sharp teeth.
Rescuers think the fish could also have possibly been a houndfish, a needle-nosed species that has been known to leap out the water and impale people.
