Alexander – whose middle name is Adolf – told Bild: "The last person I would say I admire is Donald Trump. He is definitely not one of my favourites. Some things that Trump says are all right... It's his manner that annoys me. And I just don't like liars."
Saying he had not missed an election for decades, he said: "I always vote for the person who does the best job."
When asked about his views on Merkel and the state of German politics, Alexander says he would vote for the Chancellor if he could, adding: "I like her. She's good. She seems to be an intelligent and smart person." On her controversial handling of the refugee crisis, he said: "The Chancellor does what she has to do."
In a quiet town of just 20,000 people, not many people know the brothers' secret – that their father, William Patrick Hitler, was the Fuhrer's nephew.
William's father was Alois Hitler, half-brother to Adolf, who married Brigid Dowling, an Irishwoman he had met while working as a waiter in Dublin. The couple moved to Liverpool, where William was born in March 1911.
After the Hitler name gained worldwide notoriety, William – known as 'Willy' – decided to leave England in the 1930s to find work in Germany.
Willy reportedly supported the National Socialists, and by 1935 was working at a bank in Berlin, looking for a better-paid job.
He needed his uncle Adolf's permission to change jobs – as did all German citizens – but Hitler wanted his "loathsome nephew" to stay at the bank to avoid being accused of showing favouritism to family members.
A diary Willy kept during his time in Berlin was later discovered in an attic of a house he lived in with his mother in Patchogue.
Willy wrote of his unhappiness in his job, appearing to blame his uncle for his troubles.
He then moved to America, where he joined the US navy and fought against the Germans – Hitler against Hitler was a coup for the American war propaganda.
Afterwards, Willy Hitler became a phantom. He withdrew to Long Island with his German wife, Phyllis, trying to spare his four sons the curse of the worst family name in world history.
Understandably, the family stopped using the Hitler surname long ago. In 1946, it became Hiller, and later Stuart-Houston – the name now used by Alexander and his brothers.
