A historic metal forge that made ashtrays for the ill-fated German airship the Hindenburg has been destroyed by a fire, believed to have started in the workshop of the Wendell August Forge in western Pennsylvania.
The company made ashtrays for a Hindenburg trip called the Millionaires Flight, a 1936 cruise over New England. The Hindenburg was destroyed by fire the next year; 36 people died.
