KEY POINTS:
NEW YORK - The United States and North Korea had "very good" talks overnight and there was a sense of optimism that the initial objectives of a February 13 agreement on taking steps to end North Korea's nuclear ambitions will be met, a senior US official said.
"These were very good discussions," US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill told reporters on Tuesday local time.
"I would say there was a sense of optimism (on) both sides that we will get through this 60-day period and we will achieve all of our objectives that are set out in the February 13 agreement."
