Firefighters in New South Wales and Victoria are bracing for the risk of huge bush fires today, as temperatures head into the forties.
Low humidity and winds of up to 90 kilometres an hour are combining with the heat to create a very high risk of bush fires.
New South Wales Fire Commissioner Greg Mullins today said every resource is on standby, should the worst happen.
