MELBOURNE - A helicopter has ditched into the Yarra River at Port Melbourne, Melbourne and rescue divers are searching for a missing passenger.
The helicopter crashed into the water near Pier 35 off Lorimer Street close to the West Gate Bridge at Port Melbourne about 7pm (9pm NZT) today, Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) spokesman Ray Rowe said.
A man, who is believed to have lacerations to the head, has been taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition after being plucked from the water.
It is believed divers are searching for a missing person from the wreckage.
