Prince Harry has become the first British royal to reach the South Pole after a three-week charity trek with injured military veterans from Australia, Britain, the United States, and Canada.
Harry, with 12 servicemen and women, reached the globe's most southerly point on Friday following a 320km journey across Antarctica, organisers of Walking With The Wounded said.
"It's an amazing feeling, it really is," Harry, 29, said. "What an amazing journey for every single one of them. I'm so proud, I'm so chuffed and I'm so privileged to be here with all these guys and girls."
Originally conceived as a race, the teams decided to continue their trek despite safety concerns, dragging 70kg sleds through the bitter cold and high winds at speeds up to 80km/h.
Harry joined the charity for part of a trek to the North Pole in 2011, but had to leave to be best man at Prince William's wedding.
