JERUSALEM - A hand grenade was thrown at soldiers in an army base in southern Israel on Wednesday, wounding at least five people, the Zaka emergency service said.
An army spokeswoman had no immediate comment on the report.
Zaka said preliminary information showed that a hand grenade was hurled at soldiers in a training base near the southern Israeli town of Arad and five people were wounded, apparently critically.
The incident coincided with the start of forced evacuations of Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip.
