NEW YORK: Experts who track charitable donations say contributions from Americans for earthquake relief in Haiti have passed the US$1 billion ($1.43b) mark.
The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University has been monitoring donations received by 91 charities engaged in Haiti relief since the quake on January 12.
About one-third of the money has gone to the American Red Cross.
Other recipients include Catholic Relief Services, the US Fund for UNICEF and the US wing of Doctors Without Borders.
