A gunman is on the run after earlier taking half a dozen people hostage at a travel agency in southern Paris in what appears to be a robbery, a police source says.
Armed police are on the scene, the source said, adding that the incident did not appear to be terrorism linked.
The travel agency, which is used in particular by Asian customers who deal in cash transactions, has previously been held up, the source added.
French police were asking drivers to bypass the area where the robbery is taking place on Boulevard Massena, in the southern 13th district of the French capital, in the southern district of Paris.
The Paris police department said on Friday night that officers are at the scene of the robbery, but the department wouldn't give more details.
