CONAKRY, Guinea (AP) The ruling party in Guinea is leveling accusations of fraud against the opposition nearly two weeks after the country's contentious legislative vote.
Moustapha Naite, a campaign spokesman for the president's party, said Friday that they too reserve the right to file a lawsuit at the supreme court.
The legislative election took place Sept. 28, and official results have yet to be released. The opposition has accused the ruling party of using the extra time to rig the vote.
Authorities say they are still awaiting results from some areas. The electoral commission's president on Friday issued an appeal to authorities in Matoto to send in their results as soon as possible.
Guinea's legislative elections prompted fears of renewed violence as demonstrations turned deadly even before the vote took place.
