GUATEMALA CITY (AP) Officials say a suspected drug trafficker wanted for extradition to the United States has been captured in eastern Guatemala by U.S. and Guatemalan authorities.
Prosecutors' spokesman Arturo Aguilar says Waldemar Lorenzana Cordon was captured Tuesday in Zacapa state.
Aguilar says Lorenzana Cordon was arrested by Guatemalan police with the help of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and will be extradited to New York state.
Lorenzana Cordon, along with two of his brothers and his father, Waldemar Lorenzana Lima, were accused of cocaine trafficking and placed on a U.S. list of alleged drug kingpins in 2009. The father and a brother have already been extradited to the United States.
U.S. authorities say the Lorenzana family works with Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel to move cocaine from Colombia through Guatemala.
