Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday ordered security tightened in Bangkok after two hand grenades exploded outside branches of Thailand's biggest bank, causing light damage but no injuries.
Four grenades were hurled at four branches of Bangkok Bank. Two damaged telephone booths and bank windows, and two were disposed of safely.
The blasts came after the Supreme Court ruled that ousted Premier Thaksin Shinawatra enriched himself at the expense of the state during his five years in power.
The court seized US$1.4 billion ($2 billion) of his family's US$2.3 billion frozen assets.
