THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) Greek authorities say they have arrested the last three of a group of convicted murderers who broke out of an Albanian prison last week, during an overnight operation in the rugged mountains that separate the two countries.
A police statement says the three escapees were stopped by a border patrol late Wednesday. One man was taken into custody on the spot, while the other two fled and were captured separately early Thursday.
Seven inmates, all serving long sentences for murder, escaped from Drenove jail in southeastern Albania on Saturday. Four were arrested within 24 hours in Albania.
