ATHENS, Greece (AP) Governing and opposition legislators say they will back a proposal in parliament to suspend state funding for the far-right Golden Dawn party, a day after parliament lifted the immunity from prosecution of six of its lawmakers.
The conservative-led coalition and left-wing Syriza party said Thursday they would both back the proposal for an indefinite funding suspension in a vote on Tuesday.
A criminal investigation was launched against Golden Dawn members last month after the fatal stabbing of a rap singer blamed on a Golden Dawn party volunteer. Its leader and two lawmakers have been jailed in pre-trial custody as alleged members of a criminal organization.
The party, which has neo-Nazi roots, has denied any wrongdoing and argued that it is the victim of a conspiracy organized by Greece's bailout lenders.
