ATHENS, Greece (AP) A Greek cabinet minister says his private office in central Athens was attacked by a group of masked men who removed two employees, doused the premises with gasoline and started a fire.
Police confirmed the incident late Wednesday in the upscale central Kolonaki area at the office of Merchant Marine Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. They said the fire was put out quickly and no one was hurt.
Varvitsiotis, a member of the conservative party that leads the coalition government, told private Skai television that seven attackers were involved.
Government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou condemned the attack, saying in a statement: "The followers of terror and violence have all of our society against them."
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but anarchist groups in Greece have in past carried out similar attacks.
