ATHENS, Greece (AP) Greece's parliament has voted to lift the immunity of four lawmakers from the far-right Golden Dawn party so they can stand trial for various public disturbance offenses.
Parliament members on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly in favor of the action against lawmakers Eleni Zaroulia, Ilias Panayiotaros, Ilias Kasidiaris and Efstathios Bouroukas to face trial for offenses that are not directly related to an ongoing criminal investigation against the party.
The leader of the Neonazi-rooted party and two other lawmakers were jailed in late September on charges of belonging to a criminal organization, while three others were charged but released from custody.
Last week, two Golden Dawn members were shot dead outside party offices in Athens in an attack being investigated by the police's anti-terrorism division. Police have made no arrests.
