NEW YORK - The older brother of late mob boss John Gotti was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday after being convicted of conspiring to kill mob informant Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano.
Peter Gotti, 66, was also found guilty in last December's trial of racketeering and extortion charges included in the federal court sentencing. He will not start the sentence until he finishes a current nine-year prison term he began in 2002 for money laundering and racketeering.
Co-defendant Thomas Carbonaro was sentenced to 70 years after he was convicted of murder conspiracy charges.
Gotti, said to have taken charge of the Gambino crime family after his brother John, nicknamed the "Dapper Don," died in prison of cancer in 2002, was convicted of ordering a hit on Gravano, whose cooperation helped the government convict John Gotti of murder and racketeering in 1992.
