KEY POINTS:
A 680kg glass panel being installed near the top of a skyscraper fell more than 50 stories on to a pedestrian walkway and shattered, injuring two men .
The panel was being attached to the 51st-floor facade of a Bank of America tower under construction in midtown Manhattan.
Passers-by ran towards Bryant Park when the glass shattered on the pavement next to the 54-storey tower.
