Two US schoolgirls tried to kill a pair of 12-year-old classmates in Oregon by slipping rat poison into their lunch milk, a prosecutor said.
Charges of conspiracy and attempted murder have been filed against the girls, who remain jailed in a Lake County juvenile facility.
"It is extremely fortunate no one got ill or was killed," prosecutor David Schutt said.
"These girls planned it and carried it out. This was not a random attack."
