A father has been left angered and heartbroken after his young daughter was the target of sickening online bullying just days after Dolly Everett's funeral.
Russell Simpson took to Facebook to reveal some of the vile abuse messages his 15-year-old daughter Katelyn Simpson received, including bullies instructing her to do "what Dolly did" and take her own life.
The messages referred to the death of 14-year-old Dolly Everett, who took her own life after suffering years of abuse at the hands of cyber bullies.
"Why don't you just go cut your wrist until you bleed out, you'll do everyone a favour. Go do what Dolly did, it should've been you not her," one message read.
"Get some contacts or something, or get braces to fix up your grotty ass teeth and that over bite makes me want to kill myself.
"Also cut your hair, or do you want it long so all the boys can pull it? Seriously, fix yourself."
Her father said he was only made aware of the messages after Katelyn's friend's mother contacted him about what was going in.
Posting to Facebook, Simpson said it was now time to have a "fair-dinkum" discussion about social media bullying.
"Just had a phone call from a very concerned mother because her daughter is so upset and emotionally distressed because she read the following and this was sent to Katelyn.
"To all the people that think we go on and on about Cyber bulling here is your example to what Katelyn has put up with over the years," he wrote.
"It doesn't worry her anymore but now it has become to the point where OK here I come and look out.
"So let us track this little vermin down.
"We are very grateful that this mother took the time to inform us of what has been going on.
"Fake Account you might think your tough and funny but hey we know it has to be someone Katelyn knows as you must have her phone number to connect to her account. Katelyn has already reported it to Snap Chat.
"I know we can narrow it down but hey wouldn't want to be seen as prejudicial. If by any chance Fake account you get to read this keep looking over your shoulder because we have narrowed it down to 5."
Simpson said the messages were the end of the line for him, and he would not sit back and allow the abuse.
Simpson told the Daily Mail Australia he "lost it" when they mentioned Dolly in the messages.
"Because we know Dolly and her family, it's just heart-breaking. I don't know how to put it into words or describe the feeling, but it really knocked me," the Darwin man said.
The Darwin father knows her daughter is strong but said parents can only see what goes on on the outside.
He said a lot of other kids might not be so strong and he would hate to think another death could come from online bullying.
