Girl, 4, sparks night drama

A 4-year-old girl walking in a Geelong street in the early hours of yesterday morning told police she had wanted to take her cat for a walk. But when motorist Cory Hyde rang police, a huge search was sparked.

Hyde saw the toddler in pink gumboots at 3.20am. After stopping, the 22-year-old chef who was on his way home from work, called out to the girl but she became distressed and ran home and went to bed, unaware of the drama.
