A pre-schooler has died after she was hit by a 4WD in inner-city Sydney.
The 4-year-old girl was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition yesterday and is believed to have died on arrival.
Paramedics were called to an intersection in Ultimo just after 11am. A CareFlight helicopterwas sent to nearby Wentworth Park but the girl was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Sydney City Central Inspector Dave Richards said he could not say exactly when the girl died. The crash investigation team was to determine the cause of the incident.
He could not say whether anyone else was injured. Witnesses said the girl was hit by a Land Rover being driven by a male.
"He had 'baby on board' signs on his car windows but I don't think he had any passengers at the time of the crash," one witness said. Another said two mothers had been walking together with prams and their kids. "One of the mums was pregnant but she wasn't hit and neither were the prams."
