BERLIN (AP) A German man who says the CIA illegally whisked him to a secret prison in Afghanistan has been jailed for hitting and threatening a prison officer in an unrelated case in Germany.
Khaled El-Masri says he was kidnapped from Macedonia in 2003, mistaken for a terror suspect, then interrogated at an Afghan prison run by the CIA before being dumped in Albania. The European Court of Human Rights last year ordered Macedonia to pay him damages.
After he returned to Germany, El-Masri was sentenced to prison for assaulting the mayor of his hometown.
In the latest case, centering on an incident in July, a court in Kempten sentenced him Wednesday to seven months in prison for slander, bodily harm and making threats, news agency dpa reported.
