BERLIN (AP) The head of Germany's Green Party has expressed regret about a two-decade-old political pamphlet containing calls to decriminalize some forms of pedophilia.
Berlin daily tageszeitung reported Monday that Greens co-leader Juergen Trittin was listed as "legally responsible" for the 1981 local election pamphlet, which demanded decriminalization of sex acts between adults and children "that occur without the use or threat of force."
The paper quoted Trittin as admitting that his party had failed to block an activist group's proposal for such a measure from appearing in the pamphlet. He told the paper that this was "also my mistake, which I regret."
Germany's second-largest opposition party has recently suffered a slump in opinion polls ahead of Sunday's national election.
