A German court has found a man guilty of attempting to defraud ISIS, with the judge granting legal protection to the terror group.
The judge sentenced the 39-year-old hairdresser to two years prison for trying to get ISIS operatives to transfer him up to $292,200.
The judge ruled that the man, who is a refugee from Syria, used the false pretence that he would carry out attacks in Germany for ISIS using explosives.
The prosecution also argued the man was guilty of the crime of planning to carry out attacks on behalf of the terror group, but the judge rejected the claims.
Both parties have appalled the ruling to the Federal Supreme Court.
