Surgeons have had to remove one of Indonesian plane crash survivor Cynthia Banham's legs and part of another to save her life. The Sydney Morning Herald said its reporter had undergone three days of surgery for injuries and burns suffered in the crash. She was in a critical but stable condition in a Perth hospital.
Banham was airlifted to Perth from Indonesia with spinal injuries and extensive burns. Her treatment is being spearheaded by burns specialist and former Australian of the Year Fiona Wood. Five Australians survived the crash at Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
