Melbourne gangland matriarch Judy Moran has been sentenced to 26 years' jail for orchestrating the bloody murder of her brother-in-law Desmond "Tuppence" Moran.
Moran, 66, ordered the killing of Des Moran at a Moonee Ponds coffee shop in June 2009 after a bitter falling out over money. She not only ordered the murder, calling on Geoffrey Armour to gun down Desmond Moran in a busy suburban street, but she also drove the getaway car and then hid the murder weapon and disposed of the vehicle.
Since she was found guilty of murder in March, Moran's lawyers presented their client to the court as frail, unwell and in danger of dying in prison.
Armour was also sentenced to 26 years in jail for pulling the trigger on Desmond Moran, the brother of Judy's husband Lewis, who was gunned down in 2004.
