A driver was left in disbelief after making an effort to give a cyclist plenty of room only for the rider to turn around and verbally abuse him.
Dashcam footage of the confrontation was uploaded to Facebook by user Voz Spoz, with the incident occurring while he was driving along a road in Newtown in Sydney's inner west on Monday.
The video shows the driver approaching a cyclist riding on the side of the road, news.com.au reports.
Seeing that he wouldn't be able to pass safety, the motorists slows down and stayed behind the cyclists.
"I keep about three car lengths back giving him ample space and respecting the 1 metre passing rule," the driver wrote on the video.
The driver then overtakes the cyclist but the confrontation is not over as the rider catches up to the car at a set of traffic lights.
"Mate, you cause more trouble riding someone's arse," he says to the driver.
The motorist doesn't agree that he was driving too close to the cyclist, claiming he is also a motorbike rider so he knows how annoying it can be and makes sure to leave plenty of space.
"I was respecting you. That's all I was doing," the driver says.
But this doesn't appease the angry cyclist, who then tells the driver he has "pissed" him off.
"Drive fast," he tells him. "You're holding up traffic and you pissed me off."
The fact that the driver also rides a motorbike doesn't seem to impress the rider either, who screams at him to "get on one with pedals then you fat c**t".
"See how you go then!"
The cyclist then rides off and runs a red light after calling the driver a "w**ker" one last time.
Social media users were quick to call out the cyclist for his appalling behaviour and praise the driver for following the rules.
