Steve Fossett piloted his Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer plane into Algerian airspace last night, 13 hours after take-off from Florida on his solo bid to set a world record for the longest flight.
He plans to fly around the world once and then make a second Atlantic crossing to finish at Kent, England, covering a record 41,978km in about 80 hours.
