KEY POINTS:
Malaysia's anti-corruption agency is investigating two senior police officers for allegedly amassing assets worth a combined 34 million ringgits ($13.75 million) through illegal means, a newspaper has revealed.
One of them, said to have assets worth 27 million ringgits ($10.5 million) is being probed for alleged abuse of power and failure to declare the assets, the New Straits Times said.
Another officer owns several houses and parcels of land worth 6 million ringgit ($2.3 million), which he amassed while serving in two states between 2002 and 2004, the newspaper said, quoting unidentified sources. Corruption watchdog Transparency International this year ranked the police as the most corrupt among Malaysian public agencies.
