SYDNEY - Former Federal Court judge Marcus Einfeld has been charged with perjury and faces a possible jail sentence over his alleged attempts to avoid paying a A$77 ($88) speeding fine.
Einfeld was yesterday arrested and charged after a seven-month investigation into allegations he misled a lower court to avoid paying the fine.
He had told the court that a US-based friend, Professor Teresa Brennan, was driving the car at the time. It later emerged that Brennan had died in a hit-and-run accident three years before.
