Foreign affairs post for Rudd

Former prime minister Kevin Rudd is Foreign Affairs Minister in the new Julia Gillard government.

Rudd will take over from Stephen Smith, who has held the job since Labor won the 2007 election. Smith takes over the defence portfolio.
