TEHRAN - Overnight floods caused by heavy rains have killed 27 people and left five missing in Iran's northeastern province of Golestan, state television reported.
"Cow carcases, refrigerators, combine harvesters and tractors are being swept by," said eyewitness Louise Firouz, who organises riding holidays from her home in the heavily-forested Caspian Sea province of Golestan.
Red Crescent emergency workers in the area told Reuters the floods caused extensive damage and said they had dispatched helicopters to look for survivors.
Torrents of floodwater washed away many farms, roads and buildings, state radio reported.
