Who stole my ham? Why is my bed damp? It's YOUR turn to clean the bathroom!
From irate one-liners to longer rants, a British writer has collected dozens of hastily scribbled notes pinned on fridges by frustrated flatmates.
Oonagh O'Hagan began keeping them while sharing a cheap London flat above a fried chicken takeaway with a prolific note-writer.
Scribbled on scraps of paper or on the back of an envelope, the notes shine a light on the world of flatting that is a fair way from Friends.
"We find it very difficult to say things face to face - it goes against our society to be so frank. There is something in the fact that somebody has written a note that makes it quite upsetting.
"But that is also why people like doing it, because they feel they are physically doing something. Instead of punching the person, they're writing a note. It is quite cathartic."
The 30-year-old writer, designer and lecturer has set up a website where flatmates can let off steam by sending in their own notes - flatmatesanonymous.com.
Littered with exclamation marks, underlinings and the odd smiley face, her collection of notes in I Lick My Cheese and Other Notes from the Frontline of Flat-Sharing covers everything from food and hygiene to love and hatred. They include:
* I needed that ham. Really needed it. GO SHOPPING.
* Whoever eats my cheese ... I lick it!! Ha ha!
* Why is my bed damp?
* You know that I know, that you know, that you took it ... so give it back.
With sky-high house prices and crippling rent on even one-bed flats, millions of people are living in shared accommodation.
