Authorities in Switzerland are checking whether a climbing accident there involved New Zealanders.
Five foreign climbers were reported to have died in a fall on Tuesday while attempting to reach the summit of Lagginhorn, close to the border with Italy.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said today MFAT is aware of the incident.
"The NZ Consulate - General, Geneva, has not been advised any New Zealanders were involved and is following up with Swiss authorities."
