President Thabo Mbeki has appointed South Africa's first woman Deputy President to fill a post left vacant by a corruption scandal.
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, 49, the Mineral and Energy Affairs Minister, replaced Jacob Zuma, who was fired last week after he was implicated during the trial of his financial adviser.
