Finland's Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen appeared to have a good chance of remaining in power as voters went to the ballot box last night.
His Centre Party had a narrow lead in opinion polls with slightly less than a quarter of the vote.
His co-ruling Social Democratic Party partners were not far behind and neither are the Opposition conservative National Coalition.
Some 1.2 million voters cast ballots before election day.
