KEY POINTS:
A Fijian netballer was allegedly raped, shortly after the national team returned home after the World Championships in Auckland.
According to Radio New Zealand, the alleged rape took place after a drinking party in Pacific Harbour, near Suva, early on Tuesday morning.
The player, who was a key defender in the Fijian side, was one of four netballers partying in a private villa where the incident happened.
She was treated for her injuries at a nearby hospital.
The suspect, a 21-year-old student, who also received injuries, was charged by police and appeared in court late yesterday.
He has been released on bail without plea with the case to resume on December the 5th.
