First reports are emerging of a political crisis in Fiji this morning, but there is so far no confirmation of a military coup.
Telecommunications between Fiji and the outside world have been disrupted but IRN understands demonstrations are occurring around Parliament today, and that Parliament has been effectively closed down.
Foreign Affairs department officials in New Zealand say they're checking details but have no confirmation at this stage.
