A Fiji man who assaulted and robbed Australia's top diplomat in Suva has been jailed for four years.
High Commissioner Jennifer Rawson's suffered severe facial injuries in the attack in January.
Squatter settlement resident Panapasa Sulua, 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to rob.
The High Court was told Sulua was drinking kava and had smoked cannabis before attacking Rawson. His Australian lawyer John Cameron asked that Sulua not receive the maximum 10-year sentence.
Fijilive reported the sentencing had been delayed until a report on Rawson's injuries was received.
