There seems to be a sense of excitement in the air as the Fiji public heads for the polls. The general election process starts today with the Prime Minister since 2001, Laisenia Qarase, again pitching for the top job.
New Zealand has a team of observers in the country monitoring the transparency of the process.
Although officials expect polling to go off smoothly today, a thousand police will be deployed around polling booths as a security measure.
