KEY POINTS:
BEIJING - A post with China's Ministry of Agriculture was the most sought after position at last weekend's civil service exams and a job with the government was still considered attractive by many Chinese, state media said.
Competition is even fiercer this year than last, with 60 people applying for each job on average, compared with 42 last year, the official Xinhua news agency said, citing a statement from the Ministry of Personnel.
The toughest post to apply for was with one of the central organs of the Communist Party, with 162 people after each of the rare jobs, it said.
But pity the poor weather bureau, which has 49 vacant posts in remote areas like the far western Xinjiang region and the poor eastern province of Anhui - and not one applicant.
