FARC woman surrenders

A wanted leader of Latin America's largest guerrilla army handed herself over to Colombian authorities yesterday, "nearly dying of hunger" Colombia's Defence Minister said.

Eldaneyis Mosquera, also known as "Karina," was one of the most senior women in the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

The BBC said she has lost an eye in combat, has scars across her face and a bullet wound on one of her arms.
