JENIN, West Bank (AP) The family of a 17-year-old Palestinian shot in a clash with Israeli troops in the West Bank earlier this month says that he has died of his wounds.
Kareem Abu Sabeh was wounded by Israeli fire in his hometown of Jenin on Aug. 20. His uncle Bassam says he was shot after throwing stones at Israeli troops and that he died Saturday. Another Palestinian died on the day of the incident.
The Israeli military said at the time that its soldiers came under fire while mounting an arrest raid and shot back at their attackers. The military said the Palestinian casualties highlight the difficult task of apprehending suspects in an urban area where gunmen take refuge within the civilian population. It said it was further investigating the incident.
The incident took place while Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiators were meeting.
