A former Marlborough Boys' College student and New Zealand junior tae kwon do representative has died in a "tragic" partying accident in Rome.
Jason Scorer, 20, was found in the Tiber River on Wednesday night after apparently falling from a 12-metre-high wall, according to Italian police, the Marlborough Express reported.
Mr Scorer was a Marlborough Boys' College student from 2002 to 2004 before moving to Australia in 2005 with his family.
His father, James Scorer, was a paediatrician at Blenheim's Wairau Hospital. The family now live on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Blenheim Olympic Tae Kwon Do Club secretary Helen Hogg said Mr Scorer's death was saddening and "very tragic".
