French Polynesia has pulled out all stops to impress a Middle East leader, establishing a connection so he could watch Al Jazeera television while on holidays.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, reportedly requested that the channel be available to him 24 hours a day while he was on holidays on Bora Bora Island, last week.
Technicians at the government owned Office Des Postes et Telecommunications (OPT) swung into action and worked through the night to ensure the Al Jazeera was added to pay TV subscribers.
Earlier the government had provided a plane to take him to Bora Bora, as his Airbuses were too large to land on the island.
